Joint
6/15 Agreement between South and North Korea
First
of all, I would like to thank former President Kim Dae-Jung
for inviting me to this 7th anniversary celebration
of the Joint 6/15 Agreement between South and North Korea. I
think it is great that the two parties have held to their
agreement all these years.
My
name is Jonathan and I’m a proud Korean/American. As the
creator of GoGreen Man, an environmental cartoon character, it
is my wish to try and help the earth. We, humans, are
destroying the earth the way we are treating it. I am here
today to share my GoGreen Man message with you to try and help
the children of North Korea. The message is to stop global
warming; stop pollution; protect our water; protect renewable
energy, protect forests and wildlife.
Tonight, my focus is on earth’s forests. I heard North Korea
is need of more trees. I would like to make a humble
suggestion. Let us plant chestnut trees in North Korea as part
of a “Peace Forest” with Korea’s environmental groups. I heard
that in about two years the chestnut trees will be bear
nuts. If this happens, it would not only help the earth and
the North Korean land, it would also help feed the children of
North Korea. This could be a part of the UN’s humanitarian
aide.
Thank
you for listening to my GoGreen Man message and
congratulations on the joint 6/15 agreement. President Kim
Dae-jung, congratulations to you for your lifelong work to try
and bring peace the world.
